Australian Association for Environmental Education (AAEE)
The Australian Association for Environmental Education (AAEE) is Australia’s peak professional body for environmental educators, dedicated to advancing environmental and sustainability education across the country. It serves as a collaborative and supportive network that connects educators, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and organisations working across diverse sectors and regions.
AAEE advocates for the transformative role of education in addressing environmental and social challenges and empowering individuals and communities to create a more sustainable future. The association recognises First Nations peoples as the original environmental educators and values Indigenous knowledge systems as essential to fostering a deeper understanding of people–nature relationships.
Through partnerships, professional development opportunities, knowledge exchange, and advocacy, AAEE promotes environmental education as a pathway towards eco-social justice, sustainability, and meaningful action for both people and the planet.
Empowering Environmental Education for Sustainable Change
AAEE strives to strengthen environmental education by fostering collaboration, supporting professional learning, and promoting innovative approaches to sustainability education across all sectors. The association works to build the capacity of educators and practitioners, encourage inclusive and equitable participation, and inspire meaningful action towards environmental stewardship and social well-being. By championing Indigenous knowledge, interdisciplinary learning, and collective action, AAEE aims to create resilient communities and contribute to a sustainable and just future for present and future generations.
