Overview

Mobius Foundation

At Mobius Foundation, our vision is rooted in enabling individuals and communities to embrace and lead sustainable lives. Through a wide spectrum of programmes and partnerships, we support and facilitate initiatives that encourage conscious choices—for the planet, for society, and for future generations. Whether it’s through sustainability education, renewable energy solutions, environmental forums, or youth-led action, we aim to create ecosystems where sustainable thinking becomes second nature. Our role is that of a catalyst: empowering changemakers and nurturing a ripple effect that turns informed individuals into agents of lasting impact.

Inspired by the Möbius strip, our name reflects the very idea of continuity within a finite world. Like the endless ribbon that loops back into itself, the Möbius strip is a symbol of renewal, resilience, and possibility. It represents our belief in circular solutions and our commitment to creating self-sustaining systems that regenerate rather than deplete. At Mobius, we strive to stay in that virtuous cycle—where every challenge becomes an opportunity to begin again, sustainably.

International Conference on Sustainability Education

Fostering Dialogue for Climate Action and Sustainability

Platform for educators, youth and partners to engage in meaningful dialogue on green education

The 8th International Conference on Sustainability Education (ICSE) 2026 builds on the momentum of previous ICSE editions, responding to the growing urgency for coordinated action to address global sustainability challenges.

This year’s theme, “Sustainability Education for Transformative Action,” highlights the role of education in enabling meaningful and lasting change. As the world faces accelerating climate change, biodiversity loss, environmental degradation, and widening inequalities, sustainability education must move beyond awareness to foster systems thinking, ethical leadership, innovation, and collective responsibility.

The conference underscores the need to translate knowledge into action by empowering educators, policymakers, researchers, industry leaders, youth, and civil society to work together in advancing sustainable solutions. By strengthening collaboration across sectors and promoting action-oriented learning, ICSE 2026 aims to position sustainability education as a key driver of resilient, inclusive, and sustainable futures.

The 8th ICSE aims to

● Foster Action-Oriented Dialogue: Drive focused discussions that translate sustainability education into measurable, real-world impact.

● Showcase Action-Oriented Practices: Present innovative models that demonstrate how education leads to tangible sustainability outcomes.

● Strengthen Collaboration: Bring together educators, policymakers, industry, youth, and civil society to co-create solutions and partnerships.

● Empower Educators and Youth: Build leadership and capacity for systems thinking, innovation, and collective action.

● Promote Policy Awareness and Knowledge Exchange: Facilitate the dissemination and understanding of existing policies, frameworks, and best practices aligned with national priorities and global sustainability goals.

Overview

The Mobius Young Climate Leaders for Himalayan Development (MYCL) is a flagship initiative of the Mobius Foundation, implemented with the Climate Studies Knowledge Solutions Centre, Government of Nagaland, and YouthNet. The project promotes youth-led climate action and environmental education across North East India.

Launched in Nagaland in 2024, MYCL has expanded to Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, and Sikkim through partnerships with regional organisations,,including Amyaa (Arunachal Pradesh), Aaranyak (Assam), Bakdil (Meghalaya), Mission Foundation Movement (Mizoram), Khangchendzonga Conservation Committee (Sikkim), and Organization for Rural Survival (Tripura).

Project Aakar

Shaping Population, Strengthening Communities, Sustaining the Future

Community-driven initiative promoting family planning and reproductive health to achieve population stabilisation and sustainable development

Overview

Project Aakar is a large-scale population stabilisation and family planning initiative led by the Mobius Foundation in partnership with the Population Foundation of India (PFI) and Janani. Designed to strengthen public health systems and expand equitable access to family planning and sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services, the project focuses on underserved districts in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Currently operational across 2 states, 9 districts, and over 7,000 villages, Project Aakar adopts a systems-strengthening approach enhancing access to modern contraceptive services, building the capacity of frontline health workers, promoting male participation, generating community awareness, and addressing early marriages and teenage pregnancies.

Mobius Household Biogas Programme

Empowering Rural and Women Dairy Farmers, One Biogas Plant at a Time

A large-scale, decentralized biogas programme that converts cattle waste into clean energy and organic fertilizer while empowering rural and women dairy farmers across multiple states

Overview

India, as the world’s largest milk producer with its vast cattle population, generates enormous quantities of cattle dung and other organic residues that often remain underutilized. At the same time, the country faces a significant rise in energy demand, particularly in rural areas, where clean, affordable, and sustainable energy access remains a challenge.

Rural household biogas programme offers a sustainable pathway to address this challenge by converting cattle waste into clean cooking energy while simultaneously mitigating methane emissions that would otherwise escape into the atmosphere. The adoption of household biogas not only reduces dependence on conventional fuels like firewood and LPG but also improves rural waste management and sanitation. Additionally, smoke-free kitchens reduce women’s drudgery and health risks, while also opening up economic opportunities for them.

The nutrient-rich bio-fertilizer produced as a by-product can be applied to farmlands, improving soil health, reducing chemical fertilizer use, and supporting sustainable agriculture. Such an approach not only strengthens rural livelihoods and women’s well-being but also directly contributes to India’s net-zero targets, renewable energy goals and green energy transition. It reinforces circular economy principles, making biogas a cornerstone of sustainable rural development.
